Overview Of The 7 chakras In The Body: What Are They, And How To Know If They Are in Balance

Overview of the 7 chakras

According to the Eastern philosophy, which I follow in my health coaching practice, we require all of those seven chakras to be in balance in order to nurture and maintain physical and spiritual homeostasis.

This is is a simple overview of the chakras in our body: it serves to show you how to visualize them, and how to know if they are in balance.

Root Chakra

Shapes our sense of security

“I am safe, grounded and connected”-Muladhara Mantra

In the first chakra, to be aware is to be tactile. Nothing happens until it happens in the first chakra; and nothing has happened until we sense it, until we feel it in a tactile way,
until it touches us…

Rosalyn L. Bruyere,  Wheels of Light
  • Located in the hips and genital region
  • Defines our relation to the Earth and impacts our vitality, passion and survival instincts
  • Governs safety: do we feel safe in our home, relationships, work, etc
  • Is very transformative: can transform anger into passion, but also can become stagnant
  • When balanced – it cultivates healthy sexuality, stability and security
  • When in Imbalanced –  it can result in psychical aches, pains, eating disorders, financial difficulties and other addictions

Sacral Chakra

Shapes our creativity and desires

“I allow sweetness, sensuality and passion into my life”-Svadhisthana Mantra

  • Located in the lower abdominals and digitals
  • Holds our sensuality and sexuality
  • Represents our passions and desires
  • When balanced: we connect and create easily
  • When imbalanced: we deny our creative energy
  • Developed in childhood when we start to form our belief system
  • When we block this energy, we feel dissatisfied
  • When we unleash it, we feel “enough” and connected

“We cannot selectively numb emotions, when we numb the painful emotionswe also numb the positive emotions.”

Brene Brown

Solar Plexus

Shapes our sense of stability and empowerment

“It is safe for me to be powerful. I can, I will, I do”- Manipura Mantra

  • Located in the abdomen (it symbolizes the bridge between the 2ndand 3rdchakras)
  • Governs the digestive organs
  • When we question our beliefs, we question our identity
  • We first understand the physical world in this chakra
  • The place where we store our judgments (the second brain, “the gut”)
  • When balanced: it helps us express our decisions and power to decide
  • Represents the power to create the life we desire
  • When imbalanced: we lack compassion or enough self care and feel helplessness, co-dependence, disempowered
  • The place where we store our judgments

Third Eye

“I trust my intuition and dreams, I am clear”-Ajna Mantra

  • Located in the space between the eyebrows (Control center of all other chakras)
  • Master control center for the Pituitary gland
  • Governs the way we create our life through our senses
  • It stimulates our intuition and higher wisdom
  • When balanced – we trust our intuition and have the clarity to “see”
  • When imbalanced- it results in distractions, hormonal imbalance, headaches, distorted vision, inability to plan for the future

My Transformation Story

My Transformation Story

Time to share my own transformation.

Let me begin by stating that it doesn’t come easy to share something so personal publicly but at the same time I am dedicated to be completely transparent about my own journey, and my former struggles, and to offer as much guidance as I can through my blog and coaching services (although, as a disclaimer, none of what I share with your based on my own experience should be used as a substitute to a medical advice). In addition, the mission of my platform is to show that vulnerability is the first step to healing. When we begin to perceive our low points with more compassion, and less shame, we then realize that eating disorders/body dysmorphia/ binge eating/alcoholism, imbalanced hormones, low (or extreme) libido and severe stress are just a symptom of a deeper issue…. a lack of self-love, safety and life purpose.

I strongly believe that social media can be a powerful tool for bringing more social awareness about the significant amount of young people battling eating disorders, depression and addictions. I was one of them!

And I am a success story!

We are never victims of our circumstances.

We are warriors who need the extra push and courage to show up for ourselves and win our battle.

Eating disorder and depression recovery
Share this post to your friends on IG. Let’s bring more awareness that healing is always possible

Long story short, during puberty (around my parents’ divorce) I developed body dysmorphia and disordered eating that soon escalated to depression, very low confidence, skin issues, loss of my menstrual cycle (for three years), lack of sexual drive, fear of commitment, ongoing feelings of unworthiness and “not being enough”, constant excuses not to follow my dreams, an overall dragging sense of being a victim of my past. It took me more than ten years to reach a bottom level of exhaustion, adrenal fatigue and self-fulfilled prophecies that I wasn’t worthy of love, success and happiness. While, during this whole time, still wearing the facade of “I am fine” and “I am too self-conscious to talk about it.”

THEN, ONE DAY, I AWOKE TO MY TRUTH AND AUTHENTICITY. My life changed completely!

The Universe Always Has Your Back….turn around and you will see it:)

Five years ago I was first exposed to the healing properties of journaling, mindful eating, dance therapy and meditation. And my whole life transformed. I started to let go of all limiting beliefs about myself, and my body. To realize that we, in fact, are not our bodies! We are all beautiful souls equally worthy and capable of attracting love, happiness and success…. just by being authentic, practicing self-love and compassion to other beings, feeding our cells with proper nutrition and distressing our mind with meditation. Recent studies in neuroscience clearly show that our mind is constantly creating entirely new pathways… You can always change your beliefs, rewrite your story, and let go of the past! Took me a couple of years to fearlessly dive within, to develop my own practice, and to confidently step in the shoes of a health, life and meditation coach. And now I am so grateful for all of those past experiences. They were a blessing which helped me see the light!

I am here to be your guide… and to show you that it can be done! You can transform your life!!!❤️

My Favorite Books for 2018

My Favorite Books for 2018

What is your favorite book for 2018?

📚📚📚

My favorite book of last year is Becoming Supernatural by Dr Joe Dispenza (the same author of You Are The Placebo, Break The Habit Of Being Yourself, and Evolve Your Brain): an astonishing case study on the powerful healing effect of meditation. And I highly recommend all other books I’ve listed. I can also add Start With Why, by Simon Sinek, Brendon Burchard’s High Performance Habits and all of Lynne McTaggart`s books.

Starting this month I will be sharing my recommended 3 picks for each month.

How To Create Your Best Year

How To Create Your Best Year

The sad reality is not that fewer people achieve their resolutions that those who don’t; the sad reality is most people don’t even try!

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is IMG_8047-1024x740.jpg

We are approaching the last calendar month of 2018 and right now is the best time to reflect on our accomplishments from the past year and set the goals we want to keep pursuing from January: in order to fully master their ultimate potential for success and reap the seeds of their fertilization.

Having a successful year requires a commitment, active engagement, cohesive planning, and a hard rock motivation!

No one can make your life successful for you… and no one is responsible if you don’t take action and ownership: not your parents, not your spouse, not your boss, not your upbringing, or your financial situation.

It is only up to us to dig into our minds and pull out the one Idea that will make us wake up every day with a purpose and joy. Ask your heart: “What do I want?”

[find me on ig: ana_maria_georgie]

Often, the answer ties to “time:” more time for yourself; more time for your family; more time to travel; more time to explore your passions? No, we don’t need more time for the things we love. We need less time for the things we don’t.

Choose what you truly, truly love doing and pursue it full heartedly. Success is just a natural outcome of hard work and passion for making a difference with your gifts.

Everything comes in a place when we are in an alignment with our soul purpose. When you have an Idea what you want in life, you start to become patient with your current circumstances… because you become aware that nothing is inalterable.

Of course, it is not wise to suddenly quit your job and start traveling the world, if you haven’t saved enough money for it…But it is a matter of attitude, discipline and preparation!

Once you have a plan for the things you want to achieve that bring you ultimate joy, you start showing up for the commitments you currently have with a different mindset: you start controlling your environment and not let it control you!

Statistics repeatedly remind us that the percentage of the world population that keeps their new year`s resolutions after their initial enthusiasm is, not surprisingly, quite low. The January craze is so short-lived because it doesn`t include a solid foundation that can continue creating the framework of the intended goal once the “new year” motivation has subsided.
•••
Creating a clear vision for the upcoming 365 days requires time for contemplation and a designated plan with a strategic structure for its execution. The reason why so many people report failing to keep their spontaneous (and heavily Media influenced) new year’s resolutions is because they create them on an impulse that tends to be void of deep cohesive mind, body&soul connectivity to making it happen.
•••

Nothing can deteriorates you from your path if you keep moving forward toward its success. It may take longer than intended but usually this gets divinely compensated by the added opportunities for growth we encounter by coping with the setbacks. As with everything, your mindset is in command to how it perceives experiences. There are no “good” or “bad” experiences, after all. Our subconscious mind declares them as such.

Letting Go Of Control: Tips For Easier Surrender And Releasing The Past

Letting Go Of Control: Tips For Easier Surrender And Releasing The Past

The secret of happiness is knowing that there are some things you can control and some things you cannot.” – Epictetus

Letting go of what is outside our control doesn’t equate apathy or ignorance. Feeling our emotions in their raw tantrum is the only way to, later on, release the avalanche of regret, doubt, fear, rejection, betrayal, and loneliness. Letting go of accusations, victimization, and self-pity doesn’t mean we ignore our emotions. It means we are not being manipulated by the illusion of being purposely wronged or mistreated. As the saying goes, Life doesnt happen to you, it happens for you. All wounds are teachers. And the best ones.

But sometimes we forget that with our thoughts we attract everything that happens to us. And instead get trapped in a perpetual and draining self-induced feeling of separation, martyrdom, and injustice. We start blaming the situation instead of looking within to find what we must change to stop creating the same reality over and over again: of feeling

unworthy/betrayed/wronged/cheated/unappreciated/dissatisfied/jealous/envious/unattractive/ unlovable/unsuccessful/etc.

You probably feel a sense of repulsion just from reading the listed qualifiers, due to their negative vibrational frequency. Yet, sometimes we subconsciously repeat them to ourselves – every time when Life sends us a challenge or tests our reaction to events that are outside of our control. No wonder we keep repeating the same patterns of behavior that “prove” our limitations to be true instead of consciously releasing those limiting beliefs from our cellular memory. Most of us want a thriving relationship, loving family environment, a fulfilling career and on overall prosperity. However, we most likely will continuously struggle to create our best life (and keep the affluence flowing) if there is a hidden blockage in our subconscious mind that doesn’t allow us to believe that we are capable and deserving of happiness, success and unconditional love.

Knowing that we are always protected by our higher self, and our higher purpose in this life is not the same as actually believing it. Belief requires surrender and a conscious release from subconscious blockages that trigger the doubts and fears we experience when life events and people don’t meet our expectations. Yet, it`s never them that fail us. What we choose to believe is what manifests for us. Believing that everything and everyone enters our life at the perfect time and place saves us a lot of worrying for the things and people who exit it, or come to us in a later time and phase of our growth.

Knowing that you are not in control of other people but are in control of your own mind and emotional body will forever liberate you from the chains of attachment to the past.

Snapseed 3
Silently repeat to yourself and embrace your physical body with a loving hug: as if you were your own best friend/lover.

The Practice

Whatever that has happened or is happening to you is a result of the past. And even if you can`t change it, you can change how you see it (and how you see yourself). I lovingly ask you to start this practice today and do it every day for the next twenty-one days.

Now please take your journal and begin writing down all of the affirmations I wrote down for you, as you can add your own and adapt them to your own language. Please note that is very important to say them in present tense and to keep them action-oriented.

Afterwards, please free-write about the emotions this practice is about to invoke in you and close the practice with the mantra: “I choose to allow those affirmations to work for me and to guide me towards happiness and self-acceptance.

The Affirmations

“Today, I lovingly release the pattern in me that…*”

(*for example: the pattern in me that doesn’t allow to be loved/the pattern in me that attracts toxic partners/ the pattern in me that is afraid of success/the pattern in me that repeats the behavior of my parents/the pattern in me that procrastinates/the pattern in me that attracts scarcity/the pattern in me that is always late/unmotivated/jealous…etc.)

“Today, I accept myself as I am.”

“Today, I move forward and let go of the past.”

“Today, I choose to change and forgive myself and others”

“Today, I lovingly release all negative feelings from my mind and body.”

“Today, I choose to feel better about myself and everything that happens to me.”

“Today, I release all limiting beliefs that hinder my happiness.”

“Today, I choose to feel complete, whole and guided.”

“Today, I choose to treat everybody with compassion and kindness, including myself.”

“Today, I choose to speak up and express my needs with love”

“Today, I choose to be liberated from any blockages or fears that hold me back.”

“Today, I choose to be calm and feel supported in everything that happens.”

“Today, I invite love to find me, and I stop looking for it elsewhere. It is already in me.”
